Praise Jesus!

I see/hear these comments all the time.  Something good happens and then it’s “Praise Jesus”.  I recently read an article about a local company providing Christmas gifts for local needy children and the comments were filled with “God ALWAYS provides” or “God is Good-On time-Every time-All the time.”  Really? Well except for the millions of other starving children, or victims of the holocaust, or rape/abuse victims….and you get the point.  Credit needs to be given where it is due, and that is to the company that took their time and money to donate to these kids.  I find it frustrating when people want to thank their “god” for some good action but then turn a blind eye to all the other atrocities in the world.  For those situations I find this quote from Epicurus very fitting

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?

Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing?

Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing?

Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing?

Then why call him God?
